I took the best walk in Maine this past Labor Day weekend with some girlfriends. We parked at the Pine Point Beach parking lot in Scarborough, put on our hats and sunglasses, threw some cash in our shorts pocket and left our flip flops in the car. Then we walked 2.5 miles to the Old Orchard Beach Pier.
It took about an hour but we weren’t in a rush. By that time we were hungry and thirsty so we had lunch and a cocktail at Surf 6 Oceanfront Grille & Bar. The Lobster Stew and Spring Salad with Cranberries and Walnuts were delicious, as was the Paradise Martini (who can say no to coconut rum?)
After lunch we walked the 2.5 miles back to Pine Point Beach and then placed some chairs in the surf for an hour or so before heading home. The best beach day I’ve had in a long time – including a five mile walk, laughter with friends and lunch with a gorgeous view of Old Orchard Beach. The end of Summer in Maine at Pine Point Beach and Old Orchard Beach – it doesn’t get any better than this.
